Springtime makes its way into summer in this concert. Jessie Montgomery’s Strum kicks off the program with a pulsating “ecstatic celebration.” Then Copland breathes life into the springtime majesty of the mountains in Appalachian Spring, finishing with Schumann’s depiction of awakening and renewal in his Spring Symphony.

Take your summer vacation with the PSO and travel through the sounds of distant places. Finnish, Andean and Bohemian folk melodies are painted by Sibelius in Finlandia, Gabriela Lena Frank in Leyendas, and Dvořák in his 8th Symphony. PSO Violinist, Jennifer Orchard, also will enchant through the Hungarian folk melodies in Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen.
