Robert Schumann: Piano Concerto
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Mass in C minor

The Mendelssohn Choir and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra perform Mozart’s brilliant, yet unfinished, Mass in C Minor. Not a lot is known about this work, but what we do know is that it was most likely written to showcase Mozart’s wife Constanze’s vocal range for Mozart’s father, Leopold.

Mystery surrounds Mozart’s unfinished Great Mass, but what we likely know is that this piece was written as a promise to Mozart’s wife to showcase her vocal range to her new, disapproving father-in-law. Hear the Sopranos Ying Fang and Lauren Snouffer fill these virtuosic roles, alongside Tenor Timothy Fallon, Baritone Alexander Birch Elliot and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Also, enjoy the new Steinway in this next installment of “Follow the Piano,” with the debut of the “spectacular” Martin Helmchen in Schumann’s Piano Concerto (Washington Post).
