Notes: Winner of the 2021 International Chopin Competition, Canadian pianist Bruce Liu makes his PSO debut with Beethoven’s muscular Piano Concerto No. 3. The program opens with a World Premiere by Pittsburgh composer Reza Vali, and closes with Mahler’s uplifting picture of the afterlife in his Fourth Symphony–a child’s vision of heaven as a place filled with earthly delights and tuneful melodies.

Notes: Acclaimed for her dazzling technique and expressive depth, Beatrice Rana joins your Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a thrilling performance of Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto, a sparkling showpiece inspired by the composer’s time in Italy. The program also features a world premiere of Lera Auerbach’s Frozen Dreams, showcasing her innovative voice. In tribute to the 50th anniversary of Shostakovich’s death, your PSO performs his powerful Symphony No. 10, filled with emotional intensity and drama.

Notes: Join us for an evening of reflection, resilience, and hope through music. The centerpiece of the concert is a commissioned piece by composer Alyssa Weinberg entitled Kol Nidrei, a sacred and moving piece of Jewish liturgy, as well as music and poetry that speak to the human capacity to overcome violence. The concert features saxophonist Jeff Siegfried.

Notes: The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is proud to participate in Pittsburgh’s 2025 WPA Juneteenth and Black Music Celebration with an outdoor concert on Wednesday, June 19 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Mellon Park. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Byron Stripling, the program will feature a lively big band set that showcases members of the PSO brass alongside regional jazz musicians and will include special appearances by vocalist Sydney McSweeney and Bobby Floyd playing the Hammond B3 organ.
